My design idea is very simple and the idea is this;
I want to create an event that allows 1st year to meet others before the course starts. The idea is to invite the 1st year students with a letter informing them of the event. The event will take place 2 days before the course starts and will be held in the graphic design studio. the idea is that the 1st years will then get to know each other which will increase there confidence and make them feel more calm and comfortable before they start. I will also reduce a poster fro the event, a poster on tips on presentation, which will help the confidence and will highlight words to do with speaking. They will also have sayings such as 'Don't be scared' It will also highlight likes and dislikes that would be good to consider. In the letter i will welcome students to the course and write on students names to make them more comfortable. It will include info on the course and things that will prepare them. I als want to add in a calendar giving the timetable of events such as crits, presentation nerves and it will also highlight when seeking in groups will be undertaken.
I als would like to add in ice-breaker1 for each that wil allow 1st years to undertake in a positive and humorous way. I would like to make it jokey and make it not so akward. This means that growing confidence and social speaking would help them be prepared. I would also like to improve and hep the 1t years by having a second year recommendation/ This could help improve and teach scial skills and will make them feel more comfortable in Leeds - socially.
Research: I have printed off and stuck on post notes with details that could relate to the brief i have just briefed myself on.
